IN THE CRUCIBLE OF JAPAN’S CULTURAL IMAGINATION, WHERE EVERY OBJECT IS BELIEVED TO HOUSE A SPIRIT, AND TECHNOLOGY IS EMBRACED NOT AS A FOE BUT AS A COMPANION, THE SERIES “TECHNO-ANIMISM” MANIFESTS AS A PROFOUND EXPLORATION OF THIS SYMBIOSIS.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Emi Kusano is a multidisciplinary artist immersed in technology, nostalgia, and Japanese pop culture. Her work predominantly involves AI photography, installations, music, and video art. Emi's artistic approach is distinctive; she simultaneously observes modern technological acceleration and frequently employs AI in her photography to craft narratives about possible pasts and futures.

Emi's artworks have been featured in prestigious venues such as the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, and the Gucci x Christie's Collaborative Auction. Additionally, she is a co-founder and co-creator of the Web3 anime studio, Shinsei Galverse, recognized for its innovative use of AI technology. ‘Neural Fad’, pne of her AI genesis collections, was part of the Japanese Contemporary Collection for Bright Moments Tokyo. This piece reconstructed nonexistent street cultures by analyzing Tokyo fashion.
